Populating the OpenWRT One M.2 slot?

Hi,
I have read a few post that implied (to me) that it was relatively straight forward to populate this slot. However, it has not been that way for me.
I am using an SK HyNix BC901 HFS256GEJ4X112N card.
With the card fitted, "The One" (is there a nickname forming yet?), will boot, and get the the command prompt as seen by a terminal on the front USB port. However, no connection via HTTP is possible and no DHCP available for the workstations.
Can anyone offer a Quick Start guide to setting up this memory as an NFS Share.

Regards, Martin

the boot log might include some useful information ...

Not that I can decipher...
Can I share it with you? Boot log with NVMe installed

Trying to kompare boot logs with & without the NVMe is not very practical as all the timings are different.

your router doesn't agree with you about web access being unavailable

you' haven't by any chance simply connected to the wrong port ?
AFAIK the PoE port is by default the WAN port.

The LAN and WAN ports are swapped to power the One from my Netgear switch.
See: our conversation here: OpenWRT One swap LAN and WAN port

unless you've done a reset

you can always check /etc/config/network, verify the interface change's still there.

I still think there issue's elsewhere, not "The One" itself.

Even easier ... It will not power-up unless it is in the correct port!

Sorry. Don't understand? Do you think it may be the M.2 NVMe?

On a side note, this doesn’t look good:

[ 27.930079] mtk_soc_eth 15100000.ethernet eth1: Link is Up - 1Gbps/Full - flow control off
[ 34.154202] mtk_soc_eth 15100000.ethernet eth0: Link is Up - 100Mbps/Full - flow control off

Do you think it may be informative to undo the LAN/WAN port swap?

it would, if the device is reset, but the cable remains in the same port as before.

which is kind of the scenario's we're looking at, everything is up, but you keep trying to access the router through the (now) firewalled WAN port.

PoE won't move just because you change the port assignments

Ah... Not sure I understand (but that my problem!), so I'm checking.

As you know, this is the factory config for /etc/config/network:

config interface 'loopback'
	option device 'lo'
	option proto 'static'
	option ipaddr '127.0.0.1'
	option netmask '255.0.0.0'

config globals 'globals'
	option ula_prefix 'fda8:6121:42cb::/48'
	option packet_steering '1'

config device
	option name 'br-lan'
	option type 'bridge'
	list ports 'eth1'

config interface 'lan'
	option device 'br-lan'
	option proto 'static'
	option ipaddr '192.168.0.254'
	option netmask '255.255.255.0'
	option ip6assign '60'
	option gateway '192.168.0.1'
	list dns '192.168.0.1'

config interface 'wan'
	option device 'eth0'
	option proto 'pppoe'
	option username 'IPS Username'
	option password 'ISP Password'
	option ipv6 'auto'

config interface 'wan6'
	option device 'eth0'
	option proto 'dhcpv6'

And this is my /etc/config/network (read while the NVMe Card is inserted):

config interface 'loopback'
	option device 'lo'
	option proto 'static'
	option ipaddr '127.0.0.1'
	option netmask '255.0.0.0'

config globals 'globals'
	option ula_prefix 'fda8:6121:42cb::/48'
	option packet_steering '1'

config device
	option name 'br-lan'
	option type 'bridge'
	list ports 'eth0'

config interface 'lan'
	option device 'br-lan'
	option proto 'static'
	option ipaddr '192.168.0.1'
	option netmask '255.255.255.0'
	option ip6assign '60'
	option gateway '192.168.0.1'
	list dns '192.168.0.1'

config interface 'wan'
	option device 'eth1'
	option proto 'pppoe'
	option username 'ISP Username'
	option password 'ISP Password'
	option ipv6 'auto'

config interface 'wan6'
	option device 'eth1'
	option proto 'dhcpv6'

config route
	option interface 'lan'
	option target '192.168.4.0/24'
	option gateway '192.168.0.2'

config route
	option interface 'lan'
	option target '192.168.8.0/24'
	option gateway '192.168.0.2'

One change of eth1 to eth0
Two changes of eth0 to eth1

So /etc/config/network is the same with the NVMe inserted or removed:

Well eth0 is now br-lan and it’s link state is only negotiated at 100Mbps. It’s hard to say why - could be bad cable/connector, or the switch port supplying POE power can only negotiate @100Mbps . . . But it’s a bottleneck you’ll need to resolve at some point.

You can check what each port is negotiating at with:
cat /sys/class/net/eth0/speed and cat /sys/class/net/eth1/speed

Just leave it as it is for now. concentrate on one issue at a time.

Dho... Duff cable. Didn't notice. Thank you.

Install nvme-cli and then issue:
nvme list /dev/nvme0n1 -v and
nvme smart-log /dev/nvme0n1 -v

I suspect these will give a good status.

WoooHooo....
Could it really have been the duff cable????

Anyway here is the nvme-cli logs...
