I have a 802.11s mesh with batman working ok with multiple devices.
The speed is symmetric up/down 400Mbit/400Mbit between devices with qualcom radios (QC6024, IPQ8074)
The speed is asymmetric 450Mbit/s down and 6 Mbit up in devices with Mediatek (MT7981, MT7975)
Without batman 802.11s speed is symmetrical with MT radios also.
Openwrt 24.10.0
How to debug the issue ?
Did you change mtu on mesh interface to 1546?
The mesh inferface MTU has been 1600 for ages, also tested 1546. No help.
I have a similar problem on mt7981. A temporary solution for me is to change the "cell density" parameter to "very high". In this case, clients receive at least 12-15 Mbps in total. I've been changing channels, power, mtu, and batman settings. nothing helped. In STA mode, the speed is high. The problem is observed precisely when choosing the 802.11s protocol.
What do tou mean by "In STA mode the speed is high " ? Batman also involved ?
I mean using the "client" mode without batman. In this case, the speed is high. I want to test the 802.11s mode without batman. Does anyone know what data is needed for debug? How to collect them?
UPD. I confirm that the problem is observed precisely when using batman. I have tried a large number of different settings, so far there is no positive result.
All the mediatek devices work fine with 802.11s meshes, the problem shows only when the batman is introduced. Hmmm
