add device support to openwrt

OK, get the boot log from OEM web ui
Show where you would download firmware upgrades

Hi, I am also happy owner of this device. Just received it yesterday. Originally it was on QWRT 25.01.25. I've made backups of all mmcblck0 partitions via dd and then flashed immortalWRT on it via sysupgrade since they have it on their firmware-selector at immortalWRT website. Everything works good (at leat it seems so to me). I can share immortalWRT logs if it will suit?

Official firmware is here https://www.huasifei.com/wp-content/uploads/gujian/QWRT-R24.12.30-mediatek-mt7981-mt7981-huasifei-wh3000-emmc-squashfs-sysupgrade.zip

P.S. I would be happy to get at least some key points from where to start for building official OpenWRT and adding it to official branch later. I am ready to provide any info and test anything on my router since I have a spare one for tests.

It's a supported device on Immortalwrt, I'm hunting the git commit to see if it can be used.

This was also raised on the Openwrt git:

Commits below are the support added for Immortalwrt:

Missing emmc dependency

Should be a case of raising a PR commit.

@dunsky if I make the changes later are you up for testing?

@hecatae Yes, please! I have been messing around with this router for a while now. I've found UART it's just 4 pins - no need to solder anything, I've ordered USB TTL, should come tomorrow. Also, it came with 2GB mmcblck0p6 partition from the factory and there was an empty mmcblck0p7 partition with another 7.3GB left which I've been able to merge finally. Huasifei support is useless, they were saying nonsense that though the eMMC chip is 8GB it could only use 2GB for storage.

Sorry for the details. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. I am ready to test. Following this thread. Hopefully will not miss any notifications from now.

thank you, compiling, will be in touch soon

@dunsky

huasifeiwh3000.zip

attached is openwrt 24.10.0 for the wh3000 with all the immortalwrt device commits copied across.
there's a initramfs and a sysupgrade, I would recommend testing the initramfs first.

@hecatae Thanks a lot! I would flash it now. Do I have to sysupgrade -n it? First initramfs-kernel, boot, test and then squashfs-sysupgrade from initramfs mode?

wait for your USB TTL tomorrow please, I cannot promise what I have compiled will boot.

I've flashed via sysupgrade -F first initramsf, it boots fine, then squashfs-sysupgrade. So far everything is working. Do you have any suggestions on what should I test?

Please test all the things, please test WiFi, factory reset, restoring to Stock Firmware etc.

I think it's fine that some kernel modules can not be installed on this build for now, right? Like kmod-nft-proxy

You can load kmods from your build tree.

you can't install any kmods coming from the official repo.

do you want me to build all packages?

If it's possible, I would love to give it a try as well. Right now I am still testing and everything looks fine to me. But my usual case is that I am installing Clash (Mihomo) on it to use different tunnels, I use Zerotier as well. Do you think it would be nice to test this firmware at least for a few days as a daily driver?

Also @Doanduy09 topicstarter OP is silent here but he mentioned something about wifi issues in a github issue. "He said it doesn't have MDT and Hnat drivers". I don't know what is it and I've used this router on immortalWRT for a few days and my experience is similar to what I am having on this vanilla build now.

One thing I havent tested yet is to flash back to the "stock" QWRT. I'll try now.
