Planning to switch to a new router

Hey,

I am from India and I already own a Linksys E8450 which for some reason no longer works well… I have so many issues with the internet recently.

I’ll list them out here:

  1. 2.4ghz WiFi is so bad… i can’t even connect a printer to it now…
  2. My Ethernet for some reason keeps dipping to 100/100 from 1000/1000. And I don’t think it’s the wire as well. (And sometimes it disconnects all together)
  3. At times, the whole internet is slow.

I’m not sure if it’s just the firmware doing this or if it’s the router itself.

I do want to replace this and get a nice one with 6ghz wireless with backward compatibility.

I game a lot and have multiple devices including smart devices at home. I am planning to use openwrt only bcz of the SQM.

do you guys have any recommendations for a router? Or can you help me figure out if this issues is because of the router or the firmware.

  1. Perhaps your printer is sh-t ?
  2. Doesn't really rule out the cable
  3. Perhaps your ISP is sh-t too ?
