We are not all like that so please don't judge us all because a few members are rude jerks. Although open source forums in general seem to be this way I will admit unfortunately.
No one can really tell you what will work best. You are going to have to try the options out for yourself. What I can tell you is that for me, leaving it at the default setting worked best for performance. Although I didn't really notice much of a difference either way so YMMV. Hope this helps.
If I install irqbalance and then disable packet boosting, will irqbalance automatically handle everything?

You don't learn anything by asking questions, you learn by trial and error.
Afaik this topic is very controversial, some say good, some say bad.
