Packages missing in 24.10?

Hi all, noob here, Asus RT-AC68U on Windows.

When I install the package and try to navigate the menu I get "Type error: cannot read properties of null"

Checking other posts it seems that the package is incomplete. Is this something I can fix myself, or should I report it and wait? Thx...

What package?

What menu?

OpenWRT installer,

Any menu except the top interface on the router once OpenWRT is installed

What installer are you talking about here? Openwrt isn’t like Mac/win/large-distro-linux with an installer system. So I’m a bit confused about what you are using. Can you show us a screenshot or the text output?

Sorry, like I said this isn't my strong suit...

I flashed OpenWRT to my router, and when I tried to navigate OpenWRT's menu to set it up there were no menus available, only the error that I posted above.

When I searched for that error message in forums, people both recommended to report it, and to 'build it yourself', which I don't really understand but could probably follow along if it's a recommended course of action.

Getting screenshots would mean re-flashing the router, which I could do if my explanation still isn't clear/comprehensive enough. Thanks!

I don't understand why it would require re-flashing the router? Can you explain?

I'm not trying to be difficult here, I just don't really understand what you are trying to do, how you're trying to do it, and what you're seeing as the results.

When I flashed OpenWRT to the router and navigated to 192.168.1.1, I saw OpenWRT's top page and the menu options across the top of the screen. When I tried to navigate the menu, for example to the network setup screen, I only got the error that I posted, and the screen never appeared.

I did a quick search and saw that others had experienced the same problem, and from what I saw I determined that it wasn't something I could fix quickly.

So I reflashed OEM firmware to the router so I can troubleshoot from my PC instead of my mobile--that's why I can't get a screenshot right away.

well, if you're not currently running OpenWrt, it's pretty hard to troubleshoot anything.

What exact filename did you flash to the device?

Thanks for the question. In order to run checksum I renamed the filename to a shorter name -- was this a mistake?

not necessarily, but what was the starting filename?

What I downloaded was openwrt-24.10.0-bcm53xx-generic-asus_rt-ac68u-squashfs.trx

and then uploaded to flash as rt-ac68u.trx

ok... that looks right.

It is still not clear what else you were trying to do, but maybe this will help:

https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-quick-start/start

Try flashing it again...
