Nginx upstream proxy automatically hangs

nginx version: nginx/1.17.6 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu)

Which period ? Which openwrt version ? Which nginx version ? I have several systems running 15.05+nginx, no problem seen.
May be, you can try auto-reboot once a day.

And which device? Perhaps you are just running out of memory...?
