Hi. Trying to understand openwrt dns, i found this:

> [@Right way to change the DNS](https://forum.openwrt.org/t/right-way-to-change-the-dns/220983/5):
>
> If you have IPv6 you'll need to disable peerdns in the wan6 section as well so that the DNS advertised by the ISP is not added to the list. With one instance of dnsmasq there is only one list of default external DNS servers. They are used equally in a round-robin / failover fashion. It doesn't matter where you put a list dns but it makes the most sense to put them in a wan interface configuration block.

which led here:

> [@Right way to change the DNS](https://forum.openwrt.org/t/right-way-to-change-the-dns/220983/3):
>
> For the clients, option 6 from [https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/base-system/dhcp\_configuration#dhcp\_options](https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/base-system/dhcp_configuration#dhcp_options).

and then to follow this link which seems to be down:

so i guess this is an fyi but also, is there another place to read what would be at that link?

btw i see this but its not helping me make a connection with option 6 mentioned above.

It only explains the params, and what they do - [https://web.archive.org/web/20220401023959/http://www.networksorcery.com/enp/protocol/bootp/options.htm](https://web.archive.org/web/20220401023959/http://www.networksorcery.com/enp/protocol/bootp/options.htm)

You could use [https://www.iana.org/assignments/bootp-dhcp-parameters/bootp-dhcp-parameters.xhtml](https://www.iana.org/assignments/bootp-dhcp-parameters/bootp-dhcp-parameters.xhtml) instead.

frollic, thanks for your response. is it correct to say you are referencing the dhcp protocol option 6 from rfc2132?
