Hi everyone, im new here. Started with OpenWRT yesterday but i managed to set everything up "i think" so my regular router is now a OpenWrt and is connected directly to the modem from my ISP and then a ethernet cable is plugged into the WAN port in my router and acts like a regular router. Ill post some pictures below how it is setup, it works like this.
Im wondering what can i now do to optimize it for hit reg in black ops 6?
I have setup SQM and QoS and limited my speed from 300-400Mbps to 70Mbps to get 0+ under load on waveform. "Connected over 5Ghz"
I really apprecaite if i can get some advices on how to optimize and make it even better.
Also i don't have the possibility to test my connection via wired directly to ISP port, don't have a ethernet cable I can only test and use the wireless connection
Now find new item in lucy/system and update.
First - radio will do a bit over 433Mbps in input+output+neighbours, soyou must seek free channel like using auto channel selection.
Also paste output of
cat /etc/config/wireless
Removing MAC addresses, names and passkeys.
And test without and with software offload in firewall section.
Your router may not be powerful enough to address latency increases outside itself.
Set wifi country code and try auto-selecting channel.
Edit: we should be starting at 400-500Mbps each way and b-c-d latency grading. Realistically you can bring that to A without seriously sacrificing bandwidth.
Yes, disable QOS checkbox and reboot the device for now
Then run waveform test , save link
Then go to luci/network/firewall and enable soft offload
And run the test #2
I really want to optimize my network to get that good hit detection, right now i have to pump 15 bullets into someone in the game to kill, i got motivated to fix this stuff from this guy that posts stuff on youtube but barely shares his settings. I will post some of his youtube videos so you understand. HE barely shares the settings and i can't understand them.
As you can see he 2-3 taps every single person and i don't know how he does it. Some videos are old and i don't know if they apply today or if it's outdated.
EDIT: Waveform test 2 is now correct, first link was wrong.
You can check "drop invalid"
Your setup does not gain any speed from offload (should be needed above 600 mbps)
The problem now is that we cannot tune SQM to the internet connection because you cannot measure in full.
Lets assume 500/500 precise which means 512000kbps
Set SQM ingess/download to 0 and egress/upload to 256000
Measure and save link (like keep tab open)
Now grow upload to 3/4 bandwidth ie 384000, then 448000 then (you cannot measure more, if this adds latency drop back to previous step)
Now only IF download latency is still large repeat same with download number.
If latency is worse than in no-sqm case - sorry no chance, CPU is spilling over 100% and SQM does more bad than good.
The ultimate setup is just buy an ethernet cable for like 3 dollars and none of these settings or whatever matter since it's very rare you would even remotely get close to maxxing out a connection like that to make SQM even remotely worth it. Plus no way a MT7621 can shape that bandwidth anyway. You're in a battle you can't really win.
If for whatever reason the ethernet cable route is too hard (e.g. in an upstairs bedroom from downstairs router) then look into powerline adapters. Will also be way better than anything wireless will do.
I also hate to say it and be that guy but I have to mention it... there is likely nothing wrong with your connection as it is. As long as you aren't playing on like 200ms servers then likely your "hit reg" issues is you just missing bullets. I guarantee you that if you locally record your gameplay and then share it here on say an alternate YouTube account (even blur names if you want) that people will be able to frame advance and show your bullets missing or be able to tell you that more important things you're doing like your decision making or positioning was totally wrong and that's why you died. Nothing to do with hit reg.
I remember being like 14 and having similar stuff like "this guy is so f'ing laggy holy crap" but as the years went on you just realise that there are people better than you and that's why you lost that gunfight. Once you start taking accountability for your own gameplay and improving that way, then you''ll become a much better player. Then all of a sudden you start to win those gunfights and thinking about stuff like hitreg and router settings being the reason you lose, you'll just laugh at yourself.
Sorry for the rant but I wish someone gave me this talk when I was in my early teens. Would have been a far better and rewarding experience playing games.
I just bought a ethernet cable and i totally understand what you are saying but my hit reg is really bad.
I don't know if you play call of duty but i really feel that it takes 15 bullets to kill someone, and i see alot of videos on people optimizing and prioritizing ports to get better gaming experience. That is all i want, to prio call of duty games.
And every waveform test even now with an ethernet cable i get 15-30+ ms under load, how do i fix that...
