The OS was in fact malfunctioning and I didn't even realize at first. Almost no commands in console worked and some System information in Luci were also missing. dmesg
wouldn't work (segmentation fault
).
The WiFi still worked though, although once there was no internet for like 20minutes..

After the reboot I was able to simply update the bin using Luci.

Now back to the 2.4Ghz signal strength topic. My 2.4Ghz was bad even with official Linksys firmware. (That was actually the reason I started playing with OpenWRT).
After updating to your latest image, unfortunately,I don't see much improvement that others were reporting.
I have two devices that are relatively far:

Still worse than my old broken router with integrated antennas.
Now I am trying different calibrations to see if there will be WiFi signal improvement. (dB set to 30)
