When i directly connect to my ISP with PPPOE, my Windows subsystem for linux VM can use internet without any problem. Unfortunately when i connect my PC to my OpenWrt router with Ethernet, only ping, traceroute commands work, even DNS is resolving as ping to google.com does resolve the google IP.
Assuming this is a WSL/Windows problem i tried many available solutions online but failed.
Apart from WSL, does it work fine on Windows?
Yes, windows internet connection is fine.
WSL ICMP requests also work, could it be the router firewall? I am also using SQM & Adblock.
If the same thing is working on Windows but not on WSL, I would look on the WSL not on the firewall, which is allowing the lan to wan traffic by default. You can disable SQM and Adblock if you think they are interfering.
Apparently i tried disabling the OpenWrt firewall which stopped my internet connectivity entirely, also the ICMP requests are working fine that's why i thought somehow the router might be misconfigured by me.
Reading in detail about OpenWrt firewall, it seems the router doesn't have anything to do with this issue.
Thank you very much for your responses!
