OpenWrt support for Xiaomi AX3000T

It's from Remittor's build that includes the patches for the Winbond chip on the device. Using the 23.05.04 image soft bricked my device and was what lead me to create an account in this forum in the first place.

Unfortunately I do not have uart available to me.

Here is the output for dmesg:

you can try my build, same as official openwrt 23.05.4
+new flash chip
+fixes for wifi
nothing else

Thank you for your help but using the sysupgrade only resulted in the same thing I was experiencing with other builds- it booting with a blue/white LED but me being unable to ping, ssh or otherwise access the router.
As your build does not have wifi exposed by default I could not connect to the router.
I've reset it back to the stock Xiaomi firmware ,and for the time being I'm
thinking of calling it quits here- unfortunately as a uni student I'm currently in the midst of exam season and simply dont have time to extensively troubleshoot.
If anyone manages to figure out why my ethernet wasn't working (or if you guys think its a hardware issue) do let me know and I'll try again in a couple of week's time.

Thanks for your help !!! It works ! About the OpenWrt U-Boot, I didn't find the file in the Remittor repos. Which file can I use to finish my install ?

You don't have to use uboot if you don't want to- as long as youve flashed the sysupgrade you should be done. Also, ethernet worked for you?

(also i dont think Remittor's version has a uboot option)

Welp, I think it's a hardware issue- Xiaomi's own firmware does not recognize an ethernet cable when its plugged in.

Which is really weird because xiaomi's own MiRecovery works.
Oh well, I'll return this and try again with a different AX3000T.

Hey guys. I'm a noob, please help me. Let's try to figure out the firmware up to version 1.0.47 through the XMir patcher. It seems to end with an ERROR: TELNET is not responding (IP: 192.168.31.1). What to do?

Start the SSH server on port 22...

Unlock the TelNet server...

I've managed to install 1.0.47 firmware. No ethernet port is working. SSH'd via WiFi, installed initramfs-factory.ubi file. Now there is no wifi and ethernet connection. Need help :frowning:

New revision? I guess, there should be some difference in DTS.

rom_version = version
1.0.64
You have to downgrade before flashing...

From the dmesg the Ethernet is being brought up in 2.5gig mode, which this router doesn’t support. Have you connected it to a 2.5gig device?

That’s either due to an incorrect dts or wrong uboot configuration

Or faulty hardware as you suggested. Send it back.

Nah i think thats the internal switch, mine tells me the same speed

How can I change this? I have the same problem...

Yeah you're correct. The failure in the @harjasqs dmesg is earlier - where the mdio bus is supposed to be set up.
Here;

[ 1.070500] mtk_soc_eth 15100000.ethernet eth0: mediatek frame engine at 0xffffffc009580000, irq 83
...
[ 2.153406] mt7530-mdio mdio-bus:1f: reset timeout
[ 2.158265] mt7530-mdio: probe of mdio-bus:1f failed with error -110

While in mine the bus is configured correctly;

[ 1.243570] mt7530-mdio mdio-bus:1f: configuring for fixed/2500base-x link mode
[ 1.252667] mt7530-mdio mdio-bus:1f: Link is Up - 2.5Gbps/Full - flow control rx/tx
[ 1.261616] mt7530-mdio mdio-bus:1f wan (uninitialized): PHY [mt7530-0:00] driver [MediaTek MT7531 PHY] (irq=92)
[ 1.281933] mt7530-mdio mdio-bus:1f lan2 (uninitialized): PHY [mt7530-0:01] driver [MediaTek MT7531 PHY] (irq=93)
[ 1.302155] mt7530-mdio mdio-bus:1f lan3 (uninitialized): PHY [mt7530-0:02] driver [MediaTek MT7531 PHY] (irq=94)
[ 1.322347] mt7530-mdio mdio-bus:1f lan4 (uninitialized): PHY [mt7530-0:03] driver [MediaTek MT7531 PHY] (irq=95)
[ 1.333924] DSA: tree 0 setup

Still points to faulty hardware or incompatible dts - could be yet another silent revision change from Xiaomi

No idea, if the ethernet doesn't work in the factory firmware it won't work in openwrt.
If it is working in the factory firmware check the dmesg to see if the mdio gets setup differently, then you're onto hunting for changes in the dts.

upload kernel from stock firmware, I can look into stock dts

Does anyone have insights into the practical differences between software offload and hardware offload?

It seems that when using software offload, a gigabit LAN connection achieves slightly better performance than hardware offload (947 Mbps vs 940 Mbps) when tested with iperf between two wired PCs.

CPU usage should be lower with hardware offload as compared to software offload.

So I fcked up big time.
Anyone have experience with flashing openwrt with SPI programmer?
How should I do it? Where I can find memory layout?
Any tutorials or points where I should search it will be helpful.
I've currently desoldered Winbond 25n01kvzeir and I am reading memory from chip to make somewhat useless backup...

With mtk_uartboot you can boot into OS even without flash chip. So there's no reason for using programmer, especially if you have nmbm (stock bl2+fip).

  1. use mtk_uartboot to boot into your fip
  2. flash partitions (you can even tftpboot into initramfs and flash partitions from openwrt)
  3. reboot
