OpenWrt Support for Armor G5 (NBG7815)

Were you able to locate what you were looking for? I've just installed the most recent version - 23.05.4 r24012-d8dd03c46f. It seems that it's not controlling the fan or LED, so there may be other underlying issues to address.

you can try the compiled file by @psychowood , but I still can't get extroot working with his version.

I'd advise against it, it's really old and moreover I can't provide kind of help since my G5 is gone...

Understood. I am trying @asvio 's version at the moment

I tried @asvio 's latest build. It seems to be working. I have just got extroot with /dev/mmcblk0p11. I will try to set up the router and see if it stays stable.

there are so many links :exploding_head:, could you please point to a specific one?

I tried this one. But since it is compiled with a newer kernel than the official snapshots, I can't directly install packages from the official mirrors. One must probably compile packages specifically for this build.

@asvio

Looks like they figured 160mhz out

It's early and this is not 100% the way to do it as the 2nd radio gets disabled but after DFS 160mhz comes up and his mobile associated @ 160mhz.

I think ideally someone would try replacing the board-2.bin file with what ships with the OEM firmware.

None the less a step in the right direction.

just fyi, replacing the board-2.bin with the qca one is the way to go at it.

@BrainSlayer was kind enough to investigate and essentially the verdict is:

if you want 160 you have to give up the 2nd 5ghz phy. this appears to be by design.

if you want 2 5ghz phys (backhaul?) you are stuck with 80mhz.

as far as how to switch it over to 160mhz just slot in the "official" qca board-2 as @linchpin81 discovered. using the latest / recent version works fine.

theres quite a bit of discussion on the subject here up + down a few posts:

oh, also going to 160mhz you enable 8 streams on a single phy. i am unsure if this affects signal / range / etc but i would not be surprised if it did. at 2x80mhz you are getting 2 4 stream phys. ironically when i was using it i already noticed it had superior signal over for example my 301ws even in 4 stream mode, now it would probably be even better.

all that being said mine is going back in the cloest... she just runs too hot!

big hat tip to @BrainSlayer and @linchpin81 !

Thank you.

Sorry for my ignorance, but where do I get the official qca board-2 bin? Is it the one you linked above?

That one works yes.

If you search around there is a more recent 2.9 version I would personally use. But yes that one works fine.

Yes, I started with this one as I thought I need to use something older, which would hopefully not be limited. But I have downloaded latest 2.9.0.1 and it works no problem as well.

From where did you download the latest version? Cannot find it.

Here you go:

I am using this one currently.

It is working now with 160 MHz. However, I think it is still in 4x4 mode. When I switched to 160 MHz with channel selection auto I got this output from log:

[SOUNDING-DIMENSION-4][BF-ANTENNA-4][VHT160]

So radio chains 4 means 4x4, not 8x8.

But anyway, great that 160 MHz works. I probably won't need it since 80MHz max out my gigabit network anyway.

So, we can just replace board-2.bin in
/lib/firmware/ath11k/IPQ8074/hw2.0 with this one to get 160MHz working?

Yup, as simple as that!

Hey, not sure really. My mobile network analyser app is reporting 8x8 capabilities:

what app is this?
