OpenWrt stopped working today

Hi,

I have Spectrum Internet that has been working for about a month with no issues on my OpenWRT wrt3200acm wifi router. This morning I woke up and there was no Internet so I rebooted the cable modem. Still no Internet so I rebooted the router. Still no Internet so I turned off the router and rebooted the cable modem. Once the cable modem was connected I turned back on the router. Still no Internet for the lan devices. However, diagnostics passes in Luci (ipv4). I can ping ipv6 and ipv4 addresses from a ssh command prompt on the router. Everything looks correct on the router.

If I unplug the cable modem Ethernet cable and plug into a laptop I get no Internet nor a dhcp lease until I reboot the cable modem. Once the cable modem comes back online I get the same lease that I do on the router and the Internet works on the laptop.

Another tidbit of info is that I have been at this all day. Twice I was able to get Internet through the router until I rebooted the router.

Any ideas on how to debug this?

Do you know the modem will give out more than one IP?
One is all you need, if they're making you use a router.

I watched the laptop bring up the interface.

Reboot the cable modem
Laptop network connection goes down
Cable modem resets and goes into its head end negotiations.
Laptop network connection comes up but says no Internet
Cable modem still blinking while it talks to the head end.
Laptop network connection comes up and cable modem online
Laptop network IPv4 address is 192.168.100.10
No Internet access.
About 45 seconds elapses
Laptop network IPv4 address has now changed to 173.174.xxx.xxx
Internet now works.

I reset the config in Luci and I can now access the Internet. About the only thing I haven't configured yet is SQM. I also didn't punch holes in the firewall for Samba but I can access my USB drive as before on the LAN.

unless you're double NATing, you definitely shouldn't make a hole for samba in the FW.
