Hi, Is anyone having issues with PS5 login / Sign in while using Openwrt? Wont sign in when PS5 starts up , even though says connected to the internet and also then wont access shop etc? (get a error saying wont open) i think, and this is more of a guess its a ipv6 issue, as when i disable ipv6 (even though PS5 doesnt use it) i don't get the issue. Has anyone had this issue and if so has anyone been able to fix it? i don't want to disable ipv6, and i have to manually sign in everytime my PS5 switches on which for some reason then seems to work and no issues!!
Any help would be grateful, Thanks
- What steps did you use to disable IPv6?
It may help us troubleshoot the issue.
- You do have working IPv6 from your ISP, that works on other LAN clients that use IPv6, correct?
(I thought IPv6 DNS, to be specific.)
Is it connected by wireless or Ethernet?
Thanks, so PS5 is connected via Ethernet, I Have working IPv6 from my ISP and the PS5 is the only device i have issues with (it may be a Sony issue, but if i use my isp router no issues, i also have a R4S with Gargoyle installed no issues, and my R6S with Immortal installed no issues, only when I have installed openwrt does this sign in issue happen) to disable IPV6 i have used luci and also via ssh uci set network.lan.ipv6='off' uci set network.lan.delegate='0' uci set network.wan6=interface uci set network.wan6.proto='none' uci set network.wan6.auto='0' uci set dhcp.lan.dhcpv6='disabled' uci set dhcp.lan.ra='disabled' uci set dhcp.lan.ra_slaac='0' uci commit /etc/init.d/network restart /etc/init.d/odhcpd restart
- if i disable IPv6 on the router this sign issues doesn't happen on openwrt - i use my isp dns servers for ipv4 and ipv6 i use cloudflare.
I just got into this mess a couple of days ago when I got my new PS5Pro and couldn't get it to talk to the mother-ship in a lot of cases. It turns out this has been a Sony backend problem for several years now - Namely, status.playstation.com
and some others do not have a AAAA
address and the PS will not auto-switch to IPv4 if it sees an IPv6 DNS (No happy-eyeballs
for you). Short of disabling IPv6 on your entire site network which is not a choice I care to make, you are just SOL.
However, being somewhat a hardware pack-rat, I just dug up a spare router, disabled/removed IPv6, set it serve a new subnet just for the PS and problem solved (for now). I'm sure there will be some mDNS discovery issues but I don't use the PS for media.
Its very odd, but this issue only happens if i use Openwrt. Ive got a Nano R6S, currently using Immortal fork (for testing) and so far not had this issue, PS5 logs in everytime.
I really never had an issue logging in -- My main problem was with the store.
Settings -> Network -> "View Playstation Network Status"
will fail if your network has full IPv6 service (Ipv6 DNS is set).
Im not getting the issues now login or store, all working as should be
I can only conclude that IPv6 is not fully configured on your PS5 -- status.playstation.com
does not have an AAAA record (at least here in the US).
