Not all countries allow a 160 MHz channel between the U-NII-1 (5150-5250) and U-NII-2A (5250-5350) bands.
An example from Argentina shows that the two bands are separated:
root@mr70x:~# iw reg get
global
country AR: DFS-FCC
(2402 - 2482 @ 40), (N/A, 20), (N/A)
(5170 - 5250 @ 80), (N/A, 17), (N/A), AUTO-BW
(5250 - 5330 @ 80), (N/A, 24), (0 ms), DFS, AUTO-BW
(5490 - 5730 @ 160), (N/A, 24), (0 ms), DFS
(5735 - 5835 @ 80), (N/A, 30), (N/A)
(5925 - 7125 @ 320), (N/A, 12), (N/A), NO-OUTDOOR
Another example from Russia where the two bands are together and allows 160 MHz:
country RU:
(2400 - 2483.5 @ 40), (100mW)
(5150 - 5350 @ 160), (100 mW), NO-OUTDOOR
(5650 - 5850 @ 160), (100 mW), NO-OUTDOOR
(5925 - 6425 @ 160), (100 mW), NO-OUTDOOR
# 60 GHz band channels 1-4, ref: Changes to NLA 124_Order №129_22042015.pdf
(57000 - 66000 @ 2160), (40), NO-OUTDOOR
I don't know the case of 80+80 MHz.
EDIT: I just tested channel 36 at 160 MHz on the w1700k while in Argentina, and it works. I can see the channel at that width in the channel analysis on another OpenWrt router. So I don't know what's going on...
