OpenWRT on ZyXel GS1900-24 v2?

Hi bought a Zyxel G1900-24 v2 Rev. B1...hopefully at order to get an supported v1...

I have to try get Informations how the v2 it is different from the v1 but no real answer i found...

So i ask the Zyxel support AI via chat ... what is different? The answer...the v2 is developed for OpenWRT....but no further informations follow...

The one i found is an Download link for the v1...before i get an little black brick:
Can i use the GS1900-24 v1 to flash the GS1900-24 v2? or how it works? or its better the Zyxel GS1900-24 v2 get back and buy an other Switch like D-Link DGS1210-28....?

Just don't… there is nothing the AI would know about it, nor what ZyXEL would like to tell you about it.

As there is only a single OEM firmware image for the "gs1900-24", and given that we don't have additional complications with potentially different PoE chipsets (as this one has no PoE), it is likely rtl8382m based as well. I would suggest to try tftpbooting the v1 image via serial console for testing, chances are good that it will work, respectively might be rather easy to optimize.

The DGS-1210 series is a bit more difficult to get right.

Works...but two things...First: Install via Web GUI the -initramfs-kernel.bin..The Upload via http only allow 64 Chars... so short the Filename to 64 Char or less. Then the upcomming System running in recovery (initramfs) mode Openwrt - so now flash with the squashfs-sysupgrade.bin - Works fine. The System Information you get on the Overview Page:
|Model|Zyxel GS1900-24 v1|
|Architecture|RTL8382|
|Target Platform|realtek/rtl838x|

So the v2 is the same like the v1...is only a modification from the Metalcase from the v1...

Probably. The fact that web install works means that Zyxel uses a unified image for these two revisions so the install method is pretty safe. But there could still be minor differences requiring newer versions for v2. We'll miss that distinction since we fake a high version number as far as the web installer is concerned.

Zyxel usually documents visible changes between revisions in their hardware manual.

i have read the Manual...there is only a mark for a Reset and Restore Button that v2 have and v1 only a Reset Button.

The Image Zyxel used for the 1900-24 v1 and v2 are the same, the web installer is only marking: oh the Filename (with .bin) is longer than 64 Chars...is real only edit the Filename (Upload location) self not interal in the .bin

The additional Kensington Lock i see as Metal feature
