OpenWrt on the Netgate SG-4860

Has anyone succeeded in installing OpenWRT on this device?

If it's not there, it's not supported/tested.

Modern intel atom cpu so should be possible to run x86_64. Best thing to do is to give it a try and ask questions in the forums if things don't work.

Indeed, that's why it said not supported/tested.

Problem probably isn't going to be the image itself, but getting it there, and in worst case going back to stock, if install bricks the unit.

There's also a risk of proprietary hw/drivers, not generally available in Linux.

Pretty sure it's Netgate's rebrand of the ADI Engineering RCC-VE, which goes under a few other names like Advantech FWA-1320 and at least a couple more. I don't know if there's anything special about bootloader but people seem to run just about everything on it, certainly multiple Linux and BSD flavors, so OpenWRT should no easier or harder than any other x86_64 device. (Not that I've done it personally.)
