Hi All. Just flashed my device with the initramfs-kernel.bin, now trying to connect via ssh as per the instructions - but no joy. I can see the device on the network (listed as OpenWrt) and I can ping it when it's plugged in via the WAN ethernet port - but it is not listening on port 22! Any ideas please?

Have you tried configuring your PC networkd adapter to the 192.168.1.0/24 network and plugin your PC to one of the LAN ports of WSM20? You will find it at 192.168.1.1 with SSH.

That is exactly the reason why I wanted to do that (separate from the others some more recent devices used for specific purposes, and take advantage of the better security for these devices).
