OpenWRT available for TP-Link Archer BE550

Hi,
I was on a ASUS RT-AC86U on Merlin.
Searching another to replace cause of burning 5Ghz band.

TP-Link Archer BE550 is available on OpenWRT ?

Cause I need some features like for example special caracters on SSID (&), or DHCP statics adress more than 70...

Perhaps another one than TP-Link Archer BE550 ?

I saw also TP-Link Archer AXE75...

Thank you for advices.

Use https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/?version=SNAPSHOT, if it's listed there, it's supported.

Not listed there...

Then you found your answer.

I'm searching the best available with OpenWRT but lot of difficulties...

Need it quickly, but need also lot of inputs

You already received a suggestion, but you dismissed it.

If you need something from Amazon, use the link above, to see if whatever device you find is supported, no one's going to do the work for you.

Zyxel t56 is wifi 6 or 7 ?
Band 5ghz is 20 to 160mhz ?
Ok to cover 130m2 house ?
4 RJ45 outputs ?

It should be better on all points than my actual ASUS RT-AC86U ?

Thank you for advice

There's currently no wifi 7 support in Openwrt.

AFAIK yes, up to 160 MHz is supported (this wasn't in your initial must have list btw).

Coverage depends on the house.

Did you check the tech page linked to earlier ?

I know nothing about the 86U, it's not supported here.

Yes I checked the page.
Thanks.

I'm checking also ASUS TUF-AX4200 / ASUS TUF-AX6000 / Gl.inet GL-MT6000

Which of those is better in term of coverage, speed...

  • ZYXEL T56
  • GL.inet GL-MT6000
  • ASUS TUF-AX4200
  • ASUS TUF-AX6000

Sorry for all questions.
Want to buy the one which will give me all satisfaction for long years.

And thank you a lot for all your help and spending time :pray:t2::pray:t2::pray:t2:

People say stock Mediatek drivers have better wifi coverage.

T-56 is cheap, but you probably have to flash it with Openwrt, for it to work.

The others can be flash back to stock, if you're unhappy with the performance of Openwrt.

The 6000s and T-56 are probably identical, performance wise.

Ok So ZYXEL T56 and GL.inet GL-MT6000 are similar, and for both ASUS ? They are better or not ?
OpenWRT should be better than original firmware I think no ?
And regarding my needs for statics ip, I need a modified FW

The Asus is also called AX6000.

Define better.

Recent AX4200s have a new boot loader causing some flash issues, read Asus TUF AX4200 support.

Ok So if there is some issues with AX4200, I prefer another one.
I'm not really able to define which is better in term of speed and coverage...

Can you help me for this ?

Not going to suggest the same device yet another time.

I see they all have MT7986a or MT7986av (don't know the difference.
For you, the best is zyxel ?
If yes I will order it.
They should have same coverage for each one ?

Thanks

Are you suggering all time the ZYXEL ?
Same performance than others for less price ?

40€ vs 100+€ is easy math, in my book.

Yes for sure, you're really right !
But without regarding price, performances are the same ?

Not really a lack of memory.
When you say the 6000 and T-56 you are saying 6000 for the GL.inet or ASUS or both ?

You're right, if performances are the same between those three (speed and area covered), better to buy the less expensive.

Thanks

I wouldn't be suggesting the T56, I doubt the OP can flash it if asking these questions. For that reason they should get the TUF-AX6000 or GL-MT6000.

Also about your coverage question. Physics is physics. You won't magically gain more coverage from one to another. If there is a difference we're talking 1 or maybe 2 foot further range...
