OpenWrt 24.10.1 - Service Release

The owut package replaces auc when crossing the 23.05->24.10 boundary, they both are CLI clients of the ASU system. The LuCI Attended Sysupgrade client will continue on as-is, likewise for the Firmware Selector online ASU client.

On x86-64, i had succeded upgrade using attended system upgrade to 24.10.0 months ago, but this morning i tried to upgrade to 24.10.1 & i got troubles with my lan card, my lan card are realtek r8169 & 8139too. Even deactivating my firewall didn't give me a good result. Everything is fine on openwrt machine but traffic from lan card doesn't forward, it just stays in the router. Ssh & luci is working fine. Now i am going back to 23.05.5, i have tried to go back to 24.10.0 it's failed with the same error. Now i am searching what asu command i used that time that could make v24.10.0 working fine without trouble... Only a bit delay in 24.10.0.

At this point, you may want to consider doing a fresh install of 24.10.1 and configuring from default settings. Also using ethtool to disable EEE 'Energy Efficient Ethernet' on your network adapters.

Will disabling energy efficient ethenet help? Ok, i will try it soon, not now, if i have to do fresh flash my system will go down, so i have to find the best time to do it. Thanks anyway.

I don't know if it will help in your particular situation, but it probably won't hurt.
It was listed as a "known issue" in the 24.10.1 release notes (top of this thread) in relation to MT7530 switches.
I however had an issue on x86 uplinked to a non-MediaTek switch, and disabling EEE resolved it.

I see, i will post after i reflash with 24.10.1 & inform here fail or success. It looks good to try

Error again openwrt attended sysupgrade Could not reach API at "https://sysupgrade.openwrt.org/json/v1/overview.json". Please try again later.

Why every software I've installed has to be deleted at this upgrade? Was this absolutely neccessary?

Are you referring to upgrading the software - which is contained in the new firmware?

If so, you must upgrade the entire image, hence needing to upgrade software too. FYI - you can use the Firmware Selector to include all your software packages in the new image.

Isn't that option borked lately? I include software there, and it won't compile it throws some error.

Finally upgraded with sysupgrade a few days ago. Works flawlessly.

If it bothers you, I'd recommend learning how to use https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/additional-software/imagebuilder

Took me a little bit of effort to learn but got there eventually

It is working now. Thank you so much. I just delete network file in /etc/config & it works. I think the problem is in configuration file, i dont even put "eee" in my interface configuration.

You don't want to delete that file. Perhaps I am reading your post out of context. Do you mean to say that you reconfigured from scratch?

Yes. It is working fine now. Network file in the config dir is from my old version of openwrt (v23.05) backup. In the version 24.10.1 original image you won't find that file, so i figure it out there won't be a problem to delete that file. I just delete that file, i let other backup files there & reboot.

For the record, this was not related to the WiFi radio, as I originally suspected. It was due to an incorrect config, that was seemingly changed as part of the upgrade from 24.10.0 to 24.10.1! This incorrect config caused DHCP request from WiFi clients to not be forwarded from the AP to the router, so the clients never got an IP. This again caused one device to attempt reconnect/reboot in an attempt to fix it. (That's actually a good design, nice job Tibber Pulse).

The last thing I did before upgrading was to backup the config, and the first thing I did after was making another backup. I compared /etc/config/network, and this is the result. The one on the left is on 24.10.0, how it should look. The one on the right is 24.10.1. Downgrading from 24.10.1 to 24.10.0 did not change the config back. This is very strange, anyone else seen something remotely similar?

Looking around for reports on the EA3500?

5GHz will not enable on this new build, what I was trying to do is test the bridge repeater and as I was about to enable 5GHz the EA3500 stalled and became unresponsive until it a few minutes it reset my config.

2.4GHz works fine it was able to get the connection established on bridge repeater, I did go back to oem to find out it 5GHz was working, reset/restored defaults and back to the factory image, sysupgrade images from online downloads.openwrt.org.

I installed 24.10.1 on Linksys EA4500.

I detected Kernel error and cannot connect 5GHz WiFi. (2.4GHz is OK)
