OpenWrt 23.05.4 - Service Release

23.05.4 seems to work great on Fritz!Box 7520. Thank you for all the work you put into it.

Can anyone tell me in layman's words, what the problem is and if this also affects Fritz!Box 7520 in a negative way?

Zyxel Multy M1 (WSM-20) using Luci attended sysupgrade: perfect. No problems whatsoever.

Hello

I just updated my linksys 3200acm router and it seems that I have a regression with my wifi.

I could receive 500Mb/s before and I no longer exceed 200 - 250mb/s now.
Only the download seems to have an impact

Do people also have this problem?
Thanks

Upgraded an Itus Networks Shield and several Extreme Networks WS-AP3825i AP's using attended sysupgrade. No issues.

Will be upgrading some other models soon.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen!

Yeah, that's still a lingering issue from the outage over the weekend.

How adventurous are you feeling? :grinning: You could run owut download --keep, which will leave the "bad" /tmp/firmware.bin in place, so you can then examine /tmp/firmware-manifest.json and if everything else looks ok to you, then just sysupgrade /tmp/firmware.bin...

Same here. I get around 300-350 mbps with 23.05.4, when I was getting 500-600 mbps. I rolled back to 23.05.3

Are there still known issues with the asu servers? I can't seem to upgrade my x86/64 devices. However i could use owut to downgrade my ax3000t routers from snapshot to 23.05.4. My x86/64 devices auc output:

root@HAWAII:~# auc -c
auc/0.3.2-1
Server: https://sysupgrade.openwrt.org/
Running: 23.05.3 r23809-234f1a2efa on x86/64 (generic)
No data available (61)

Another Archer C7, v5 here, upgraded successfully (system with AdBlock and not much else).

Strangely enough, first attempt resulted in the same version loading :person_shrugging:. Probably selected the old one by mistake.

Same here rollback to 23.05.3 :frowning:

I'm not sure if they are "known" in the sense that someone is digging into root cause and squashing them, but there are still a few things not working right yet. (For example, I'm not seeing the release snapshots, 23.05-SNAPSHOT, on the ASU server - but probably not many people are concerned with that.)

You could try building an image on https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/, use the list of packages you get from this as a starting point, see if it gets any further.

eval $(ubus call rpc-sys packagelist | jsonfilter -e 'packages=$.packages') && echo $packages

I already tried that, but my package list is over 100mb with ext4, so the build fails there, unfortunately.

Any chance to push https://github.com/openwrt/firewall4/commit/698a53354fd280aae097efe08803c0c9a10c14c2 to both stable releases, it is crucial to utilize now fixed pppoe offloads. This absent pppoe tcp packets of TU 1493..1500 destroys flowtable entry so we get in/out death loop in place of steady offload during "normal" transfers.

There is a massive throughput issue with 23.05.04 on IPQ806x. A Pixel 6 can only reach half of the throughput on 2.4G. If I build 23.05.04 and only roll back to previous backports the issue is gone.

Linksys E8450 MT7622 with MT7915E: performance as expected with OpenWrt 23.05.4. Throughput near theoretical maximums with iperf3 on 5 GHz 11ax and 11ac and on 2.4 GHz 11n.

My WRT3200ACM is showing download speeds dropped quite significantly. My download speeds are quite consistent around 300Mbps. With 23.05.4 release, those download speeds have dropped to around 150Mbps.

I even tried reverting to a previous build of the mwlwifi driver ( Release Revert 23.05.4 mwlwifi · trinidude4/openwrt (github.com)) but unfortunately that did not help.

For now, I have reverted back to 23.05.3 and download speeds are around 300Mbps.

Xiaomi AX3200 (MT7622 with MT7915E, similar to Linksys E8450/Belkin RT3200) bricks every now and then after several reboots on fresh installation of 23.05.4. Had to reflash it via TFTP. Anyone similar experience?

Sorry I don't know much about all this but if you did a fresh update maybe you are suffering from the wifi driver bug explained in the wiki

Comments by dermoth on the github page also state it still exists in 23.05

Once again sorry if you already did the fix there could be another problem.

Same here with my WRT3200ACM

Goto to firmware selector and request a new build ( including the packages you want) .

My Belkin RT3200 download speed dropped quite significantly as measured by iperf3 (ethernet connected iMac server to WiFi 5G connected iPhone XS Max; screen captures from the server side; sender = download)

23.05.3(top) vs 23.05.4(bottom)

Upload speed on 5G and download and upload speed on 2.4 marginally improved with 23.05.4.
