OpenRouters.net: New tool to filter devices by specs and eBay listings

Hey everyone, I have recently been working on a new tool to filter devices that are supported by OpenWrt and check which ones currently have listings on eBay.

This should be helpful to people that are trying to find cheap secondhand routers/APs on eBay but are getting frustrated by having to search using the Table of Hardware one entry at a time.

It's still a work-in-progress, but you can check it out here: https://openrouters.net/

I will be updating the site over time, but I would really appreciate it if some people could try it out and give me some feedback. Feel free to share any feature ideas or suggestions in the thread.

Currently supported features

  • Filter based on supported release: current stable, old stable, snapshot or obsolete.

  • Filter based on type of device and the core specs: RAM, Flash, number of Ethernet ports, Wi-Fi version supported.

  • Show only devices with some listings on eBay, with median price.

  • Direct links to eBay for US, Canada, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, UK and Australia.

  • View most of the data from the TOH in a easy-to-read spec sheet for each device.

  • Warning messages appear in the detailed view (in red/yellow cards) for potential issues with a device: if there are no recovery methods, not supported in current stable release, some features are still unsupported, or the device doesn't have enough ram or flash for normal operation (4/32 type warning).

Planned features currently in development

  • Better eBay API results filtering to detect and ignore listings for accessories like rack ears or replacement power supplies.

  • Improvements to results for Raspberry Pis and other SBCs where the model names are very similar and generate false positives.

  • Integration with Amazon and AliExpress for new devices.

  • Decision tree to help beginners pick a new router to start with. (By asking basic questions to filter out only good, safe, bets.)

Probably also exclude 8/64 MB devices? Or add a warning?

Yeah, I should have specified, I’m actually using 16/64 as the cutoff. (I’m still used to thinking of it as the 4/32 rule though :upside_down_face:)

hi @lux1m

Love this, thank you very much! Couple of suggestions:

  • show the median price
  • filter by store (e.g. ebay Australia)
  • in the details, show the USD price as well as the local price
  • on the trail of @egc comment, maybe add filters for those classes (8/64, 16/64, 4/32, etc...)? Not sure on this one, it might be too much

Those are the ones on the top of my mind now. Thanks once again for making this: I am not planning on buying a router anytime soon, but I did buy one by the end of the year and it would absolutely have helped.
