Obscure Tegra2 device (TelyHD)

I hope I am posting in the right category. I have an old tegra 2 device called a TelyHD (TelyLabs). It ran Skype on a custom overlay over Android 2.x. Because it was expensive and a commercial failure they never upgraded the OS.

Specs:

  • Tegra2 SoC
  • Ethernet + USB2 port (Asix AX88760)
  • WiFi (Broadcom BCM4329)
  • 2GB NAND storage (H26M21001ECR)

I see there is already a build target for Tegra. One Tegra2 device ("TrimSlice") is supported by OpenWRT. My question is, if I tried to flash that image using NVFlash, will it boot up? How specific are these images?

It's a shame that software killed this device because the hardware is rather exquisite. In fact the software is so amateurish that the UI is installed as user apps rather than in the system partition. Which in turn gives me hope that they used some generic firmware straight from NVidia.

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

What do you want to use it as, in other words running what packages?

Can you find a way to monitor its boot process, via a serial header on the board for example?

I want to essentially recycle it with some up to date software. Android 2.x is hard to find software for and very dated anyway. An access point, repeater, possibly a mesh router node (if I ever get around to setting a mesh n/w up), or even a samba/printer server, are all things I can use.

I guess adb and logcat are available for monitoring, I'll get back to you.

Sorry about the delay, but here is the kernel log:
