Novus management system vss server 2.1.11x64

Hello,

Please, I have issues with my NOVUS PTZ IP Camaras, one of it turns on but refuses to communicate with my Teltonika Router and does not display viewing on the NOVUS Server. I can ping the Router remotely but I cannot ping the Camera.

The second camera can be pinged remotely from the Server but it does not display on the NOVUS Server.

I need your suggestions, please.

Thank you.

Harc

how is this openwrt related ?

  • Refuses to communicate in what manner?
  • Is this router running OpenWrt?
  • How is the title related to OpenWrt?

You wouldn't be able to ping devices behind the router (i.e., the firewall and masqueraded WAN IP). Can you better explain your setup?

:warning: I hope you don't mean you've exposed your cameras to the Interent.

OK, we deployed 7 NOVUS IP Cameras which are installed as standalone and provided with internet connectivity to enable viewing them on an NMS VSS Server 2.1.11x64 that is located in a different long-distance location. The cameras get its internet via GSM Telecom SIM internet connection using Teltonika routers to establish connection with a secondary Teltonika router that is located where the server is positioned.

With availability of data on the camara locations, I can ping the camaras but I have a camara that I currently cannot ping and I also have a second camera that I can ping but it does not display on NOVUS Server.

I don't know if my explanation is clear enough?

Thanks.

You still haven't explained how this is related to OpenWRT.

Not really.

As asked in previous posts - how is this related to OpenWrt?

Its a Teltonika router... running OpenWrt

Great, in that case ....

Please connect to your OpenWrt device using ssh and copy the output of the following command and post it here, using the "Preformatted text </> " button:

ubus call system board

Please, which of the routers are you referring to? I have one at the camera location and a second one at the server location

you only mentioned the RUT, but feel free to post both.

The only router you've mentioned?

Or 2.

Also Teltonika and runs OpenWrt

yes, the cameras are exposed to the internet which allows for pinging them remotely from the NOVUS Server

Is this related to your other topic?

  • Do you actually have connectivity to this other device/location?

Please better explain now.

If you're truly running default - offical OpenWrt...

  • Perhaps you should ask NOVUS instead of us.
  • They should be able to provide you support for your purchase and tell you what to do.
  • If you need help implementing that in OpenWrt from forum discussion or WIki instructions at https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/start - then feel free to ask.

EDIT:

Lastly, and importantly:

  • You haven't mentioned how the 2 routers are connected
  • Regardless, you then proceeded to say some server reaches the cameras from the Internet - so I'm lost how this related to the first router?
  • You also said:

So please explain this connectivity, etc. We can't guess and the Community Member with a Crystal Ball is on indefinite vacation.

It appears you are using firmware that is not from the official OpenWrt project.

When using forks/offshoots/vendor-specific builds that are "based on OpenWrt", there may be many differences compared to the official versions (hosted by OpenWrt.org). Some of these customizations may fundamentally change the way that OpenWrt works. You might need help from people with specific/specialized knowledge about the firmware you are using, so it is possible that advice you get here may not be useful.

You may find that the best options are:

  1. Install an official version of OpenWrt, if your device is supported (see https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org).
  2. Ask for help from the maintainer(s) or user community of the specific firmware that you are using.
  3. Provide the source code for the firmware so that users on this forum can understand how your firmware works (OpenWrt forum users are volunteers, so somebody might look at the code if they have time and are interested in your issue).

If you believe that this specific issue is common to generic/official OpenWrt and/or the maintainers of your build have indicated as such, please feel free to clarify.
