Is there any reason this device is no longer supported? I bought it under the impression that it came with openwrt installed. Unfortunately it won't connect to my WAN out of the box and it looks like its wrt version is out of date. I was going to try and install a current version on it but it's not in the list of supported hardware.
Iirc, this device was never supported by the official OpenWrt project.
Please reach out to gl-inet for help and firmware updates.
It never was, its whole SOC isn't and has never been (only in the last couple weeks we've seen some development on this SOC family, this doesn't mean the sft1200 will ever be supported, just that it just got a bit less unlikely, if someone spends a lot of development time on the missing bits and pieces).
It isn't, it ships with GL.Inet's OEM firmware, based on a semi-proprietary vendor SDK.

Thanks for the replies all.
On the Amazon page I saw "Founded in 2010, GL.iNet is a leading developer of OpenWrt Wi-Fi and IoT Network Solutions.", so I just assumed it was an openwrt router like the Beryl.
Incidentally, I opted for purchasing the Opal because of a thread on gl.inet's forum which suggests that it's better at SQM than the Beryl:
The gl.inet link I posted apply to the Beryl too, none of the devices they sell/make run stock Openwrt.
They're equally not OpenWRT devices.
Oh, I thought things were more simple than this due to the marketing text I posted. I'll probably return it then.
The SoC was recently supported, but there is no support for the switch chip (PEB7084) installed in GL-SFT1200.
Also known as the GSW150
There was a DSA draft in 2022 for the GSW1xx but I'm still reading if it's actually in the kernel.
Some of their routers using Mediatek chipset (like the Beryl you mentioned) can be flashed to official OpenWrt (I own it)
Yes, that's what gave me the idea I could flash the Opal too.
