No Internet Access

Good Day Everyone,

I'm here to ask for assistance as I have reset my router which is a TP-Link Archer C6 v2 (US) / A6 v2 (US/TW)

with a firmware version of: OpenWrt 23.05.3 r23809-234f1a2efa / LuCI openwrt-23.05 branch git-24.073.29889-cd7e519

what I'm trying to do is gain internet access through Lan and Wireless method

I've been trying to do it for 4 hours now.. but to no avail.. I am clueless..
I'm not the one who set up OpenWrt.. it was my uncle.. but he is out of town and is quite busy.. so I can't ask for help.. hoping anyone would be willing to help me in this..

Without any information just a wild guess:

Change the Routers IP address form 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1

Network > Interfaces > LAN > Edit

When changing choose to apply anyway

After that reboot your client PC to get a new IP address in the 192.168.2.x

Make sure to connect the WAN port from your router to the ISP modem.

Ahhh.. forgot to give much context..
my router was experiencing instability issues with the internet.. I wanted to fix it.. so I had factory reset the router.. didn't expect the firmware to be openwrt instead of the default tplink firmware..

I had first setup the wifi access points when I first got in the dashboard..
Internet access was working for a bit with both Lan and Wifi. Then a few mins later Internet access just suddenly disappeared. I didn't setup much because I had no clue what to do.

also, I've tried changing my IP as you've suggested. but to no avail still no access..

How is the router going to connect to the Internet (cable service, fiber, WiFi from someone else, etc)?

there is a very long cable coming from the first floor of the house to the second floor.. I've checked Switch under Network and it says that the WAN port has nothing connected to it despite there being a physical connection

Plug the cable into your PC, reboot your PC and see if you have internet, if not the cable seems dead and thus the problem lies elsewhere.

I was hoping this wasn't the case..
kinda curious how hard resetting the router finished off the cable though...
I find it strange since it was still working decently before I reset the router...

Working decently?

Then what were the stability issues causing you to reset your router?

alot of modems hold on to session information, make sure to unplug both the modem and wifi, plug modem in, wait a few mins, then the wifi, everything should fix right up, also you mentioned that you werent expecting the openwrt to come up, is it possible the device has a dual boot partition and the default tp link is on the other partition?

this would be valid if the modem itself is smart enough to start a new session. but alot of times you have to reboot the modem first

i just read it again and realized i cant read, if you didnt install it that makes it trickier, but start fresh and do each step one at a time, start with factory resetting the router again, once you get it back up and running, set your password, and unplug both pieces of equipment, start with modem, wait, plug in router, verify you have lan connectivity and then move on to the wifi steps. make sure to set country code and a wifi password
