Hi Thanks for your work on this router.
This will be my first openwrt router and I am a bit worried about breaking it. I have the black cilinder version.
Just to be sure about what do I have to do to:
... And that's it. Openwrt intalled! Right?
Sorry, but there are a bunch of other files in it and it is confusing for me.
Thanks for your help!
Hello, I can't find a way to recover my redmi ac2100, I can't revive it by tftp because there is no connection and I will have to recover it from a ch341a program to be able to change the boot delay time so I can change this value from the serial port.
What connections do I need to make to write to nand spi?
Thank you
Maybe a hardware bug to my ac2100:
The 2.4g wifi will become dead when runs continuously for no more than three days. It is there but cannot connect, when triy to connect it say the wrong password. The 5g is good.
When restart network, the same. Only way to recover it is to reboot.
I set cron to restart network every 12 hours, it does not work.
So I have to set cron to reboot daily. I will see if that eliminates the frustration.
It looks like I am not able to install OpenWRT on my router.
I have the black cylinder one, and installed OpenWRT previously until I tried to update it via Luci and softbricked it.
A few days ago I managed to recover it and now, attempting to install OpenWRT again I can't.
I tried on Windows, raspberry and Ubuntu through Virtualbox and I am stucked in the cve step. I run the script, it shows the 1 package sent message but netcat does not show the connection.
Any thoughts? Any help is welcome.
Hello, have you tried with this guide (https://github.com/impulse/ac2100-openwrt-guide)? And please have a look to my issue (https://github.com/impulse/ac2100-openwrt-guide/issues/4).
You have to change mac-addresses in pppd-cve.py file.
Yes, that is the guide I'm following, and the one that I followed the previous time, when I got it working.
Yes, I saw your issue and did that change, my MAC starts with "50:D2:F5" too, but it is not working despite the src and dst addresses are the right ones.
Hi,
Whait is the firmware version?
An implementation of CVE-2020-8597 against stock firmware version 1.0.14
see: https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/2954
Regards,
Tamas
Yep, it was that!!
I figured out something like that but didn't give it a try.
I had the last version after recovering the softbrick.
One important thing is that in my case (black router) it is not the 1.0.14 as this is for the white one, for the black it is the 2.0.376, named miwifi_r2100_firmware_64288_2.0.376.bin
After downgrading the version, OpenWRT had been installed with no issues and it is working right now.
Thank you so much for helping.
Dear blazko,
What was the version you downgrade the device. I tried but I was not able to install opewnwrt firmware. Now I try to downgrade the version.
Hi!
As I said, it is the 2.0.376, that you can find here: http://cdn.cnbj1.fds.api.mi-img.com/xiaoqiang/rom/r2100/miwifi_r2100_firmware_64288_2.0.376.bin
You can downgrade it using the stock's interface, through the upgrade option and then select the .bin file manually, or you can use the MiWifiRepairTool.
Once you have downgraded the system (make sure that the interface shows the 2.0.376 version), I think that you have to unplug and plug the router, because I tried without doing it and I was not able to install OpenWRT until I did it.
Hope it helps, if you have any questions do not hesitate and contact again.
Good luck.
Good afternoon,
I have the same problem, with the exception that I always have the Generic MAC device and the "Device is not active" error.
I am a complete noob. Could you please pont me out to the files that you flashed and a tutorial to flash the MIWIFI?
Edit:
Would it be possible to use one of the sysupgrade files and get the same effect?
Edit2:
I am doing some more tests, and I have discovered that I have this two radios: radio0 ( MediaTek MT7603E 802.11bgn) and the WIFI5 radio radio1 ( Generic MAC80211 802.11nac).
It seem that the problem is that for any reason the list of channels that I can set for WIFI 5G is wrong (Spain). It only let me choose channels 36-44. If I set channel 48 it stays in 44, and for higher channels or for auto) it just does not work at all.
I have changed for testing purposes the location to IN and now it let me use all the legal channels in Spain (36-64 and 100-140).
What can I do to solve it?
Thanks for your help!
Hi,
anyone else having 5Ghz Wifi issues with the flat white (redmi) version? Mine drops out after a couple of days and only a restart can bring it back...
Many thank's, you save my day !
I followed exactly the https://github.com/impulse/ac2100-openwrt-guide guide. Should I have used the rom from @scp07 ?
Can I still do that with the following commands?:
mtd write openwrt-ramips-mt7621-xiaomi_mi-router-ac2100-squashfs-kernel1.bin kernel
mtd write openwrt-ramips-mt7621-xiaomi_mi-router-ac2100-squashfs-rootfs0.bin ubi
Or should I
sysupgrade -v -F -n openwrt-ramips-mt7621-xiaomi_mi-router-ac2100-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
or should I use web interface with the above image?
or better just leave it?

Hi, not sure I understand - I am currently running the scp07 build posted here in the thread: OpenWrt 19.07.3 r11063-85e04e9f46 / LuCI openwrt-19.07 branch git-20.161.73857-777fe39
Are you saying I am not able to use LUCI upgrade or I will brick the router?
Is it absolutely necessary to install breed? I dont really understand what the advantages are, and it seems really complicated...
Any help most welcome!
Hello dear community,
I am a newbie hence a need a lot of help. It is the first time for me to install OpenWRT (or anyother thing on a router). I am using the Redmi AC2100 (white, 6-antenna) since a month with stock firmware, but want to try something new.
I have used this guide: https://openwrt.org/toh/xiaomi/xiaomi_redmi_router_ac2100?s[]=redmi&s[]=ac2100 but am stuck at "Now we can run our router through the initial setup wizard on http://192.168.31.1". My PC cannot connect to that ip-adress it get's a timeout (yes, i changed my ethernet interface ip-address to 192.168.31.177). I found some YouTube videos, but they are in languages that I do not understand and mostly they use MacOS or Linux. Well, I only have Windows 10 and could not find anything for that (maybe Windows is a problem for flashing OpenWRT?).
Could you please provide me instructions (a link or maybe write an own how-to) to install OpenWRT on my Redmi AC2100 with a Windows 10 computer? That would be very kind.
Thank you in advance.
Hello,
Running 19.07.3 since months, so far so good, stable. Really just install and forget. Using the white version, as a "dumb" AP wireless bridge, with some VLANs. Really, can't complain. Waiting for improvements and such. Planning to buy a second one, or even more for friends (obviusly will "hack" on openwrt ).
Only thing to mention is that I get the following in the kernel and syslog, but this is something sporadic, as it seems, sometimes is not visible:
Fri Sep 11 20:06:54 2020 kern.warn kernel: [168595.981120] vlan egress tag control neither untag nor tag.
May have been something regarding the mediatek switch and VLANs. But apart from this, no issues whatsoever. If I can help with either testing/logging etc, help with issues, I'm open.
