New to OpenWrt no keyboard on install

Hi Guys, I've just started to look at OpenWrt today. im using the openwrt-22.03.3-x86-legacy-generic-ext4-combined.img on my x86 System which uses a Realtek network and i have installed a second Realtek card which seem to be recognised on OpenWrt install. After a while the screen stops scrolling text and when i add and remove USB devices the actions get recognised but i have no power to my keyboard and im unable to hit the Enter button to progress. im new to OpenWrt and im stuck. im trying to run this on a ASUS M5A99X Evo R2.0 motherboard. Thanks in advance for any help or replies...

Can you provide some details run a linux distro could be anything that you like and provide us inxi -Fxz
So we know what are the hardware you have.also give some screenshot that where your screen stop. So we can look into the error.

sorry, should i be trying to install openwrt on linux. ive been trying to install from a USB stick?

I think the suggestion is to run another linux-based OS preferably debian-based (OpenWRT is also linux-based) to generate a report on what your ASUS hardware is doing when you plug in a USB device. Also provide the dmesg logs when the USB device is plugged in. And then openrouterman may be able to help you.

As far as I know, the recommended way to operate OpenWRT is through the LuCi web interface or SSH, so I don't even know if keyboard is enabled by default.

OK, Thanks for the reply guys..

Check the manifest to see if kmod-usb-hid is included in the legacy build. If you only see "New low speed USB device" but not it being claimed as a HID device, there is no HID driver (Human Interface Device, i.e. a keyboard) I know that kmod-usb-hid is now included in the x86_64 builds. All x86 CPUs made after about 2006 are 64-bit compatible and the x86_64 build should be used unless you do have very old 32 bit hardware.

If you do have very old hardware try the serial port, it will be active.
