New OpenWrt installation on a TP-Link Archer C7 v2 is slow - speed cut in half

I read here, though, that the TP-Link stock firmware uses Hardware NAT, whereas OpenWrt does not ("Currently, only mt7621 devices support it on OpenWrt.").

Wouldn't this suggest that OpenWrt is the problem?
