New OpenWrt installation on a TP-Link Archer C7 v2 is slow - speed cut in half

I read that part of the problem might be that the stock TP-Link firmware supports hardware NAT, which is a big reason for the faster speeds with the TP-Link firmware. I guess this is the culprit?
