New fixes feedback - Xiaomi Mi Router 4A Gigabit Edition (R4AG/R4A Gigabit)

The latest v1.1-pre.

ok, so this recent patch https://gitlab.com/db260179/xiaomi-m4a/-/commit/4dd052bebdcaf48bd89e2ed2f54a13ead96e4fc5 - that is not in the recent released stable built image, should fix this issue.

I havent build this recent binary, so you can either build my latest stable branch or wait for my next release?

I can make the build.
I will test and return back.
Can u give me please your config file from latest build?

This does it all for you, the config is what is in this script

Compiled and already installed.
Let's test it.

@mitza97 Are you able to share the compiled image please?

@mitza97 @araujorm @hoddy Ok, so guys finally fixed the squashfs issue for certain. Nothing to do with block size as i original thought, it appears to be a race condition with the spi flash chip. The original max frequency was set to 80mhz, it appears that some of the boards are not manufactured correctly or on the cheap, the original firmware is limiting the speed to 33mhz.

My recent fixes correct this issue and i've added options in my build.sh to make a minimal image, I will create a final stable version and that will be all from me for now.

Thanks for your kindness and good working on this device.
Build compiled yesterday, not a single problem until now.

No problem. I've identified most of the show stopper issues for this router.

I will give it a few weeks, then will pull request a patch to the official openwrt repo

So i've pushed my final changes to my repo - i've added a docker image builder for people who want to compile my code and generate an image to push to their router - https://gitlab.com/db260179/xiaomi-m4a/-/commit/124d9771e7edf7dd51716c47b5d7873942ebc58c

My patches will only be excepted in the snapshot openwrt repo going forward, as openwrt will not add new devices to stable releases.

Hi, @db260179
Are you going to release your full and minimal versions as a sysupgrade file?
Thanks for your extraordinary work

Mitza97 has been doing some builds from my code, otherwise i will release my last changes as an image soon.

You can just grab my code and build via my docker script image - does it all for you - just need docker engine installed.

Is now live, built images and imagebuilder - but uploaded to 3rd party site due to size

I'm not sure why but I bricked when I used @mitza97 's version perhaps my download got corrupted but gave me a chance to go back to square one and install from stock. Installed perfectly with no issues, all seems to be working well for the first 30mins and my iperf3 is reporting 924Mbps. Perfect! thanks for all your hard work on this.

I also did the nvram commands while i was at stock so i will have to test that functionality at some point.

I can't see mitza97 code on his gitlab, so i dont know what he has done?

I added the irqbalance process to even the load out a bit, unfortunatley the ethernet driver only uses one core, but we can at least spread the wifi chips around the cpu a bit.

My main priority fix was to make sure the squashfs unpack on boot wasnt corrupting. Now i know it was the speed of the spi flash causing all the grief.

Other fixes was mostly the mediatek switch, to prevent it from locking up on high load.

I will be posting a commit to openwrt master branch next week.

Today I have hash checked the build downloaded from my Gitlab repository and compared with hash data from my computer and I see that not matched. From some unknown reason (for me) hash of downloaded build has been changed. Maybe it is a Gitlab problem.

I don't make any changes to your code, I only cloned and build from your stable source, so this is the reason for not seeing my code.
I only built and uploaded the builds to Gitlab.
PS: excuse my English please.

Thanks for trying, you did everything right you asked for us to test it because you wasn't sure now we know =D

Guys, I'm sorry to inform, but I give up on this device, today I got again two unexpected reboots, and because of this, and the fact that my online connectivity is very important (my son doing on-line school), I have already ordered a TP-Link AX50.
I was having a very bad experience with this unit, maybe I got an faulty unit, but for unknown reasons, even stock rom gives the same experience.
Attached are the latest kernel crash log obtained today (from minimum build compiled by @db260179, which is currently installed, tried already all builds, compiled by me, also by @araujorm).
Maybe offloading features are the reason, from what I see, but I really need this gigabit functionality since I have a full 1 Gbps connection.
So, that's it.

I would advise having the debug info options activated on the config file before building... Maybe the resulting sysimage is a bit bigger but not that much... and the crashlogs would be so much more helpful :frowning:

As it is, the crashlogs don't have useful information to understand what happened... what do you think @db260179 ?
