New edgerouter x fresh on edgeos. confused on install guide

Hi,
I got a edgerouter x for a great price and couldn't resist it. Seems I've come at a confusing time as the method of install is quite different now.
I was going to follow the wiki guide, but seems the ERX wants .tar for the initial and .tar for sysupgrade.

18.06.6 is mt7621-ubnt-erx-initramfs-kernel.bin and ubnt-erx-squashfs-sysupgrade.tar

This website http://openwrt.jaru.eu.org/openwrt-18.06/targets/ramips/mt7621/ contains a ramips-mt7621-ubnt-erx-initramfs-factory.tar that I suppose I could flash, then use above official sysupgrade.tar. to get me on 18.06.06.....

Now that 19.07.0 stable is out, those builds are .bin and apparently ERX is expecting .tar factory image to begin things. Other users have been reporting going from 18.06 to 19 issues.

Whats the best thing to do? Use a usb to TTL adapter and flash 19.07 straight off the bat? [ubnt-erx-initramfs-kernel.bin] and [ubnt-erx-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin] would that work?

I appreciate the help everybody.
All the best.

Solved.

From edgeos v2.06 > openwrt 18.06.6 > 19.07.0.
Used openwrt-18.06.6-ramips-mt7621-ubnt-erx-squashfs-sysupgrade.tar from the german wiki.

Then ssh back into ERX and forced 19.07.0 sysupgrade. with this command

sysupgrade -F -n openwrt-19.07.0-ramips-mt7621-ubnt-erx-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

Worked first time without issue.
