New BT Smart Hub 2 (Complete Wi-Fi) Router

Hi all, I have the new BT Smart Hub 2 (Complete Wi-Fi) Will the stable OpenWrt [v18.06.4] work on my router. I have checked the list and I see that the BT Smart Hub 2 is listed by for type A or B

I can't find any reference if my router is type A or B in any docs or on the router itself which says if it is type A or B. I know that the BT Smart Hub 2 (Complete Wi-Fi) is an upgrade of the old BT Smart Hub 2. But is it type A or B. I would appreciate anyone with some information on this router. I would love to flash it and get rid of the BT firmware. I look forward to your reply

Kind regards
Budda

BT Smart Hub 2 is currently not supported

Assuming you're located in the UK, you'll find used BT Home Hub 5 Type A for around 8.50 GBP plus shipping (the initial flashing procedure is not for the faint of heart though, but they're decent devices).

Hmm, not supported! In the list of supported devices is says BT Smart Hub 2 type A & B. This new BT Smart Hub 2 might be not be supported because it's an upgraded version of the old BT Smart Hub 2. What a shame!

Yes, I am in the UK. I have a Hub 5 from PlusNet. Can this be router be flashed with the new stable OpenWrt firmware?

Yes, BT Home Hub 5 Type A, BT Business Hub 5 Type A and Plusnet Hub One are the same device (just in a differently coloured case). See https://openwrt.org/toh/bt/homehub_v5a and https://openwrt.ebilan.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=266 for details.

I can now see why my router is not supported. The firmware is for the BT Home Hub! Not the BT Smart Hub! Thank you for your reply
