Netgear R7800 No IPv6 Upstream OpenWrt 21.02.03/22.03.0-rc6 (ISP modem)

Hello,

For some reason, I am not getting an IPv6 upstream on my Netgear R7800 router.

I have tried the following:

Tried to reset system settings on OpenWrt 21.02.03 back to default, however IPv6 never boots up.

Tried flashing router back to factory OpenWrt 21.02.03, however IPv6 never boots up.

Disconnected R7800 router and plugged directly into my cable modem, which gives me IPv6.

Tried a system upgrade to OpenWrt 22.03.0-rc6, and IPv6 never boots up.

Tried to restart interfaces after the router has been on for a while, but that doesn't work either.

Anybody have any ideas?

Sounds like you need to config your ISP router to delegate IPv6 prefixes.

Quite possible that the map router just gives out individual addresses, but the OpenWrt router would need several 64/ address prefixes for assigning to lan network(s). Preferably one 60/ that means 16x 64/.

Check the ISP router for "Prefix delegation".
And check if the ISP router actually gets multiple prefixes from ISP. Some ISPs only give out one 64/, which is not actually routable.

There's actually no option on the Arris SB6190 cable modem for prefix delegation. It's a very strange issue, as I've used OpenWrt for years with the same router and cable modem and always got the IPv6 upstream. Tried other standard troubleshooting like reseating all the cables and trying different ports in the back of my Netgear router, but to no avail.

Maybe it's a hardware issue? No idea, but I'm beginning think that might be the case.
