I have noticed that OpenWRT runs on the NETGEAR GS108T v3 and I am wondering if anyone has tested or has any thoughts on if it would work on a GS108PE?

try this filter, read the device specific pages, where available, there might be quirks.
if you have a lot of time to kill, read the SoC specific thread.

I looked on the ToH I didn't see any filter for switches! I am going to look again, that is perfectly helpful.

I’m also thinking to just repurpose an ap I rarely use as switch. However, even with the wide area network port, it only has five ports on it.

I need one port to be a trunk port and the others to be access ports.
