How about Netgear C series devices? Not for cable functionality but the fact that their R series counterparts using similar / identical wireless chips seem to work.
Looking at the the C6250 as an example we see the same wireless gear as the R6250 variant - main difference is the C would be using a QAMLink BCM33843 SOC in favor of the BCM4708 seen on the R side.
Not sure if this would even be a good idea but wanted to open up the conversation.
