Netgear A6210 notes

I recently bought a Netgear A6210 cheap to give me an additional radio to bridge my wired network to a mesh on a different channel than my primary WiFi. It works, but as there have been a few topics on the A6210 (e.g., Openwrt not support Netgear A6210?), I thought I'd report my findings so no one one buys one and ends-up dissapointed:

The Netgear A6210 seems to have been designed to give a desktop computer WiFi, not for use as a router, so while it does support AP mode and mesh mode just fine, it has limitations:

  • It only supports 2 SSIDs, so you can have, say, your primary and guest network or primary and mesh, but that's it.
  • It only has a single radio, so it can do 2.4 or 5 GHz, but not both at the same time.

So I wouldn't recommend it for building your primary router, though it works just fine for my use case.
