next step is go back to OpenWrt, even though Homeassistant's Netgear integration is miles ahead of OpenWrt integration and is getting better by the day .

tried to flash openwrt 22, this was the serial output and but couldn't connect on 192.168.1.1. connection was refused. now bootlooping again

facing this all day long

C:\nmrp>nmrpflash -i net6 -f WNDR4300v2-V1.0.0.32.img
Waiting for Ethernet connection (Ctrl-C to skip).
Warning: IP address marked as deprecated.
Advertising NMRP server on net6 ... \pcap_sendpacket: send error: PacketSendPacket failed: The I/O operation failed because network media is disconnected or wireless access point is out of range. (2150891551)

Netgear has written an NMRP server for Windows which probably would work better on a Windows machine than the third party one.

If you do use nmrpflash, it needs to be run in Administrator mode, and turn off all firewalls before running.

this same tool worked wonders yesterday, but still let me find the official NMRP server for windows.

Can't find the official NMRP tool but jclehner was kind enough to create a new version, but still

Got lucky a second time. Restored to factory firmware.
What is recommended to revert back to OpenWrt?
Flash openWrt using Nmrpflash or try with GUI method?

Finally back onto OpenWrt.
Bought a cheap Ethernet to USB dongle and it worked wonders.
Used nmrpflash-0.9.18.2-4-gb564180-win32.zip https://github.com/jclehner/nmrpflash/issues/112#issuecomment-1272345357
to flash back to Netgear firmware.
Flashed OpenWrt from the Web GUI https://openwrt.org/toh/netgear/wndr4300_v2#installation used factory image first.

https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/22.03.1/targets/ath79/nand/openwrt-22.03.1-ath79-nand-netgear_wndr4300-v2-squashfs-factory.img
and then again with systemupgrade file to be on safe side.

https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/22.03.1/targets/ath79/nand/openwrt-22.03.1-ath79-nand-netgear_wndr4300-v2-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

Will IA, post a video on this process.
