Need Help Installing OpenWrt on Omninas Shuttle KD20

Unfortunately, KD20 no longer receives support. KD20 only supports the Smb1 protocol. Smb2 and Smb3 are not supported.

Does OpenWrt support the Smb2 and Smb3 protocols?

Can someone please help me with the installation?

What do I have to download and can I then simply install it via the KD20 user interface?

The firmware 2.38.20140728 is currently installed.

Unfortunately the Shuttle KD20 is one of the devices lacking a page on the wiki. Searching Git for KD20 results in the following link kd20: generate image compatible with stock firmware which indicates that support was added for loading via stock firmware. And in fact openwrt-19.07.4-oxnas-ox820-shuttle_kd20-factory.tar.gz is available in the latest stable release. Since there is no wiki page to provide guidance make sure you have a recovery plan!

I tried to upload it "openwrt-19.07.4-oxnas-ox820-shuttle_kd20-factory.tar.gz" via the user interface and I get the message "invalid firmware image"

I've installed OpenWrt on a shuttle kd20 but it is a few years ago. The factory image didn't work for me and I had to hook up UART connection. I'm not sure of the exact steps anymore but I think I ended up breaking into the stock linux system and wrote uImage and rootfs to nand from there.

It did succesfully run OpenWrt 18.06.1 but only one of the sata drives worked reliable. When I added a 2nd drive I always ran into issues. I've tried to run sysupgrade to a newer version a year later and that didn't work so I left it as it was.

Below is the shuttle boot log when it was running stock firmware. Maybe that will help you figuring out how to flash OpenWrt.
