Need a recommendation for TMHI modem/router

I'm looking for an alternative to my T-mobile 5G home internet gateway. I want to get faster upload speeds and improved security. I need a suggestion on what modem/router I can use with T Mobile home internet. The T-Mobile home internet gateway uses a nano sim.

I primarily use my internet for gaming, hosting servers, and browsing. I am looking to spend at most $700.

What speeds are you getting and what channel configuration?

I get 150 MBPs download and 15 mbps upload on my desktop. I'm on a wired connection. In the T-Life app under advanced cellular Metrics, the 5G band is n41, Reference signal quality is -10, Reference signal received power is -86, and signal interference noise ratio is 10.0

Assuming this is in dB? Yeah I can see that this would be a problem. Before you go and replace the modem I'd say have a go at whether your 5G modem works better on your roof or outside? Does this modem allow for external antennas? I haven't debugged 5G cellular connections but my experience from 4G is that you want an SINR much better than 10.

Also of note is if you can figure out where your tower location is. Then you can have a go figuring out whether you can get line of sight etc.

N41 is 2.5GHz? So probably reasonably easy to find 5G antennas for that.

RSRQ / RSRP i'm assuming those units are in dBm? Similarly a look at tables on the internet says those are at the low end of "good"?

Regarding security. If the modem can do external antennas, next bet is whether it can go into bridge mode I guess? Regarding actually recommending a 5G modem I have no experience =)

edit: One would need to actually look at what parameters are actually best. But putting in 16QAM or QPSK which is what you'd get from a quick look if your SINR is 10. 150 down / 15 up seems reasonable if you were after faster speeds. So the aim is to improve your RF parameters with the current modem before going and getting a different 5G modem.

Assuming this is in dB?

Yes this is measured in dB.

I live in a 2 story town house and roof access isn't permitted where I am at, but I may test placing the gateway near the window. The gateway does allow external antennas for reference it's a TMO-G4AR.

I bought a GL-X3000 which allows for tower locking, I am getting 170 download and 40 up. I was able to install OpenWRT on it for extra features such as ad guard.

Cool.

Directional antennas when you're locking to a tower could help?

But yeah if you lock to a tower and get it closer to line off sight that sounds good.
