NanoPi R4S rk3399 4G is a great new OpenWrt device

I'm pretty sure that's how my setup behaves on boot. You can define static IP addresses for specific device MAC addresses under the Network>DHCP and DNS> Static Leases menu tab if you want to enforce fixed IP addresses for particular devices. That's what I do for the shared printer on our network.

i have r4s rm3399, and i have tried multiple sd cards and different version snapshot, i always stuck at booting. If i boot into friendlywrt, i have no problem at all, but any or latest version openwrt, even built version for rm3399, booting stuck at loading up, here is the serial logs:

I can confirm this method works fine on my Nano Pi R4S 4GB. Most recently I am running OpenWrt SNAPSHOT19614-d9fae43202 on my NanoPiR4s and using it as my home network gateway.

Did you verify the sha256sum of the img.gz files downloaded? I didn't see that mentioned - sorry if I missed it. Multiple incomplete image/bad images seems unlikely and probably problematic for zip extraction but worth a checksum check.
I am running the 22.03 rc1 squashfs image and my early boot log from after an upgrade of a working setup looks considerably different from the one you posted above, even considering matching some specific lines and timestamps. Many events that do match do happen at about the same times. I have openwrt-22.03.0-rc1-rockchip-armv8-friendlyarm_nanopi-r4s-squashfs-sysupgrade.img.gz and I am willing to load it onto a spare sd card and grab a boot log of the first boot later today or this weekend. I could grab another image if downloads are an issue for you and you don't have this one. Let me know.

Friendlywrt uses ext4 and not squashfs.

I guess that either is something happening when you write the image to the sd card, or the images themselves have some kind of issue or your nanopi has some issues like ram issues, since squashfs runs on ram.

Where did you download those squashfs images from?

Also, what are you talking about when you say rm3399? The nanopi r4s uses a RK3399.

weird thing is that sometime im able to boot, sometime i cant, like 1 out of 10 reboot cycling, i got 1 success, and my R4S is 4G, also friendlywrt booted just fine so i doubt it is a hardware defective or anything like that. Im willing to try any other snapshot you guys think is stable and post a serial console here.

So I`ve a strange problem, which i used to have with TPlink router standard firmare, but putting openwrt on it solved it and never had a issue

but now its back when using the r4s :frowning:

one nas drive on network windows cant access it via \nasdrive it asks for passowrd < this is already saved in windows, entering the password then gets me

the only way to get windows back access to it, is to reboot router and nas drive, am i missing some setting some where

and i can access it via ip/dns name on web browser

found issue, it adds ".lan" onto the end of the DNS names, but only affects the old NAS drive

looks like from that thread there potentially is an issue with SquashFS.

The new friendlywrt build is working really well for me. Has all the latest packages like qosify etc plus docker
