Multiple Wifi connections on the 5GHz radio of my Netgear EX6130

Hi,

I am trying to make multiple Wifi connections on the 5GHz radio of my Netgear EX6130 work. I know this is possible by the hardware because that is what the default firmware does. The EX6130 is a Wifi <> Wifi/LAN extender.

What I did is the following:

  • Set the LAN network to a different subnet (192.168.2.1/24). This works.
  • Created a Wifi Client on the 2.4GHz radio to connect to my main router. This works and now I have a LAN network on the EX6130 being able to connect to the internet
  • Created a Wifi Client on the 5GHz radio to connect to my main router. This works as well.
  • Created a Wifi AP on the 2.4GHz radio to accept connections. This works and now I have a Wifi network on the EX6130 being able to connect to the internet.
  • Created a Wifi AP on the 5GHz radio to accept connections. This doesn't work. I don't see the SSID on external devices. And devices that were connection cannot connect anymore. Even the 2.4GHz SSID is not visible anywhere anymore.

Anyone knows if this is a limitation of the MT76 driver?

Best,
Martijn.

I have experienced the same issue. I cannot get STA mode and AP mode to work on the same radio any time I am on a DFS channel.

I posted about it here:

I suspect it's a firmware issue on mt76 devices.
