MR42 Mac Address

Hi.

Is there a known bug with the current stable release (23.05.3) the causes the MR42s mac address to randomly change, every reboot?

I don't know about the bug, but does it help to set it manually on the interface configuration?

Yes, The snapshot fixes this, but breaks wifi.

Does 23.05-snapshot fix it? Not via selector but browsing archive tree

Yeah, forgot to close and delete this.

If it is still an issue in 23.5 snapshot or main snapshot you need to report it on github, here we can just tell to copy MAC from label to luci....

Although OPKG seems to be missing in random snapshots

I have an untested fix (MR42's are coming from eBay, but haven't arrived yet), for 23.05 -- you can grab a build from here to test it... should be tested and submitted in the next week or two:

https://github.com/rkboni/openwrt/releases/tag/meraki-00da027 (PR against my fork is here -- will rebase against upstream 23.05 and submit it once it's been tested).

It shouldn't affect 24.10 / SNAPSHOT builds (and the Wifi breakage has long been fixed there).

Now tested on a new MR42 and merged to the 23.05 branch: https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/commit/cb8b632f1ad8bee438139aaf8c947879380fbdc2

Does your build keep data rates higher than 400mbps to the AP (even though it auto negotiates at 867, but drops quickly)?

%hats inherent wifi feature, you transfer at half of link rate.

Yes, I know that, but I'm talking link rate itself

One-antenna clients will have link rate max 433, transfer rate around 217. Either goes down if having competing AP-s in same channel.

Correct, but it's a AC9560 or something along those lines. It links at 867 like it should between AP and Client, and then drops to 400 5 minutes later. and theres literally no less than 20 feet between them

There was a bug in 23.05.4 that unnecesarily locked on one-antenna transmissions, solved now for a while.

On the MR42 I always see clients using 80Mhz receive rates but 40Mhz transmit rates... ended up swapping the MR52 and 42 to put the 42 in the less-used location. Haven't investigated, but don't know enough of the low level details to even say if that makes sense or not based on antenna config etc
