[SOLVED] MR12 Current Flashing Procedures

Hello,

I have an MR12 that has been fully functional running LEDE 17.xx for a long time. Today, I got the bright idea to upgrade to 18.06.1 Openwrt, and guess what... soft brick...

So I go back through the process of tearing it open, hooking up the console, and what do you know, it's booted with the current software...

The only problem is that there are not any interfaces defined, no network other than loopback, etc.

The main question is can I go back and flash the cucumber tony build that I originally used, or do I need to do something more complex?

I have followed the tutorial here: https://openwrt.org/toh/meraki/mr12 until I got to the part about flashing, and read the warning that If I'm not using riptide, I shouldn't proceed.

Second question: can I run the flashing commands from the table of hardware using the current build of Openwrt, or will that make things worse?

Thanks,
Chance

I should add that TFTP transferring the cucumber tony image brings it back to life. I went back to LEDE using the cucumber tony build and sysupgrade procedure, but the system ends up exactly the same, lo is the only interface, and nothing I can do seems to help.

I did set the MAC address, erase the mac address, and set the mac address again, but it doesn't seem to help.

I think my best bet is to flash openwrt from the console, but I don't want to hard brick the device.

Unless you do something silly, youd have to be very unlucky to brick your device. With serial console, youre getting visibility with whats going at boot time, and if needed you can control the tftp process better , and/or modify bootloader configuration settings.

Probably first thing to do is start copy/pasting the output from console. If you can still get it to boot on the old firmware please paste that too and lable it clearly in your reply. Without that kind of detail its tough to say what next course of action should be

So I should post the boot output from cucumber tony firmware? The LEDE firmware is also a bust. I must have done something mildly silly.

here is what happens when I try to follow the flashing procedure on the wiki.

This is solved, it helps when you know which AP model you are working with. I have an MR16, I just wasn't smart enough to read the label on the back...

cheers!
