Migrating from a router to another

HI,
i'm questionning...
how migrating conf and packages from a router to another, different brand ?
is it possible ?
regards

Question already asked several times on the forum.

Short answer: "better not" ...

ps: since there are specific configuration files for that router, I know it's painful to reconfigure everything from scratch but it's better this way... (personal opinion but shared by other people)

ps: unless we are talking about virtual machines or containers running Openwrt in which case you have on your side the speed of making a clone of the virtual machine and being able to experiment with all the possible options (personal opinion)

see:

https://forum.openwrt.org/search?q=Migrating

I usually take a back up and see what parts of files in /etc/config I can copy/paste to the new router. Moved from x86 to nanopi R5S. Most of my config is in dhcp and wireguard in network and firewall.
