Hi there folks,
I have an turris omnia running Turris OS (based on 23.05) and want to install vanilla openWRT on the router. However, I want to avoid redoing all my config settings, setting up interfaces etc.
However, apparently Turris OS does not us the usual backup, but snapshots via schnapps which is not supported on openWRT. Has anyone figured out how to transfer the config files?
- Put /etc/config/ in the sysupgrade.conf?
- Manually transfer /etc/config/ and copy it back?
- Redo all the settings manually (nightmare!)
Any ideas/experiences out there?
Best,

This is almost certainly going to be necessary. It’s not necessarily the problem of extracting the underlying config files, but the fact that the TurrisOS is a fork from openwrt that has different and incompatible config syntax and options.
In most cases, though, you should be able to recreate most configs fairly easily.
Is there something that makes your current config complicated? If so, please elaborate on those details.
Bottom line, though, don’t try to import config files from a forked os because they will likely cause problems, up to and including soft bricking the device.
