We wouldn't know what your email client uses by default; but I do recall that I had to set my email to Plan Text in order to register for the Mailing Lists:
Can you show a screeshot?
I think you're thinking too hard about this.
...or you didn't set Plain Text when sending the email.
Not sure what i have to select to get the result i want.
Basically only wish to be notified via email for each new firmware sysupgrade, i dont want to be notified when someone comments, that will just floaw and spam my email inbox.
I have had the same issues trying to subscribe to the lists.openwrt.org. Only being able to subscribe to the bug list (that hasn’t been updated for a couple of years now).
You can get to the other lists via html https://lists.openwrt.org/pipermail/openwrt-announce/2024-July/date.html
Change the eg. Announce to adm/devel and current month/year to see the others.
In your forum profile you want to select Watching First Post and select the Release and Security Announcements to get notified of the first topic post only.
Ah, maybe this is stupid to ask but what exactly do you mean by "notified of the first topic post only" the first topic i see is the firmware selector, not the service releases.
I probably misundertod something.
If you look at the forum Release andSecurity Announcement category, it also announces security alerts and other notices that are of special relevance to all forum members, so yes you will get First Post notification for all announcements in this category.
On the good side, there are only 55 topics over ~4 years, so your email won’t be overly spammed with irrelevant content.
I’ve brought the issue about failures when trying to subscribe to the adm, devel, and subscribe mailing lists a couple of times to the forum that never elicited any response from the dev group. I don’t think the Forum Admins have any involvement with the mailing lists.
Hmmm so there is currently no way to be notified only about sysupgrade releases...
Makes me wonder how much how a task it would be for a forum admin to let a dev know they could/should fix their subscription notifications.
Might not be a major issue but certainly tons of people using openwrt would benefit from this.
