Why isn't this a thing? Anyone know how to implement this?
Because
- LAN clients don't "authenticate" with anything like 802.11 clients do
- LAN clients' traffic doesn't go through the router in many/most situations
- A client can set its own MAC address and IP, without DHCP
- MAC filtering provides virtually no security above IP filtering (which isn't very strong)
This is handled in enterprises with techniques like 802.1X port authentication.
