I double checked - there is no “error” section or anything else in the GUI output beyond what I pasted already.

I did an owut upgrade (verbatim, without specifying target version) and all it did was to lose all my configuration. I think it upgraded my router from 24.10.4 to 24.10.6. I had to re-configure my router after that.

I now tried the owut check --verbose --version-to 25.12 and again it rejects the current profile, but this time it’s even stranger:

i.e. the profile it identifies as luxul-abt-4500-v1 is listed in the Valid profiles list in the error message, although with a _ instead of - but apparently it changes between the two.

EDIT: echo luxul_abr-4500-v1 > /tmp/sysinfo/board_name allows the check to pass, I’ll try to upgrade it now.

EDIT 2: I tried the upgrade and I get a warning about the downgrade of ONLY the following packages:

Sort-of correct, in the board file that first underscore should pedantically be a comma luxul,abr-4500-v1. That said, the underscore will work just fine with ASU (not sure about other tooling, but if you're upgrading anyhow that's not an issue).

I'm seeing those downgrades in my tests occasionally, not sure what is up with that, but yes, it should be just fine to --force it as ASU will build a coherent set of package irrespective of whether they are the latest or not...

Upgrade done.

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but the configuration was completely wiped out.
The router reset back to the default 192.168.1.1, and I could restore an old backup to get it back to a working state.

Indeed (I see it a bit clearer now), the /tmp/sysinfo/board_name has to be with the comma as it is checked in the sysupgrade path... https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/blob/09e7b24ceb5d9310334c4f88327dc6d58052e7fd/target/linux/bcm53xx/base-files/lib/upgrade/platform.sh#L36-L62

And for the NOT keeping settings, it is a general platform problem there are reports in the forum and an opened issue about bcm53xx devices having the same problem, including this luxul one.

Both ASU and firmware-selector are failing to generate a snapshot image with this error:

Target is MT3000 mediatek/filogic

That package just got a version bump yesterday morning and it may not have built yet. Try again in half a day or so...

Attended-sysupgrade upgraded my wr3000 from latest 24 to 25.12.2 and SQM didn't work. I tried uninstalling and purging, but the system's asking to install iptables, ip and a lot of packages absent in the repos and generally deprecated! Could it be that the sqm version in the repos is still the old one? why did it update successfully, though?

I've got luci-app-sqm and sqm-scripts on my 25.12.2 edge router, working just fine and saw no issues when building the image.

The ip and iptables requirements are virtual, in that there is no actual package of that name - they are more like "capabilities" to be provided by alternative concrete packages. Here's what I see (I cut out some fields manually to reduce verbosity).

Thanks for your thorough explanation!
I’d like to point out that these “soft requirements” are marked as totally missing and with red text in LUCI, and this lead me to thinking this must be an error.
I already knew going into 25.12 that firewall4 and nftables now provide the functionalities previously provided by firewall3 and iptables, because that’s in the changelogs and there’s a symlink from fw3 to the fw4 binary, but these facts seems to not be acknowledged by LUCI.

Getting a failure using both LuCI and owut.

Given that the release was cut a few days ago, is this still expected, or is it possible that there's a missing package, and there's a wider problem?
